"The world breaks everyone, then some become strong at the broken places." ~~Rev. William Sloane Coffin
Poetic Justice
According to the April 13 New York Times obituary, he said: “Courage, he preached over the years, was the first virtue, because ‘it makes all other virtues possible.’”
I fear I’m getting close again to politics but here is another quote:
"Patriotism at the expense of another nation is as wicked as racism at the expense of another race," he declared, adding: "Let us resolve to be patriots always, nationalists never. Let us love our country, but pledge allegiance to the earth and to the flora and fauna and human life that it supports — one planet indivisible, with clean air, soil and water; with liberty, justice and peace for all."

Thank you, my friend...
I am going to add you to my "Echoing Voices (blogs)" links. Thank you for your kind words and the hat tip... Peace.
Thank you poetryman: I've been on a personal quest and have been fortunate enough to find several bloggers who have similar sensibilities (as posted below and in some of my links). It is a sort of healing process for myself and in the meantime, maybe I can pass something along to other people~~because I innately do trust that there is a way to become strong through the broken parts of our lives (though I'd never wish brokeness on anyone!). But life does this to us and in the hope that there is a world of people out here who still yearn for the beauty that humanity has to offer, I'm searching (~~when I'm not scared shitless~;).
Welcome.
He is my new hero.
Just chiming in again, my friend. :>)
I am of the firm belief that when we pick up a book, magazine, or go to new places on the www, we often find education and inspiration where and when we least expect it. May your searches always be fruitful! =)
Dear Lorna: mine too
Dear thepoetryman: thanks for the musical ringing…again
Dear livewire: I find that to be true too and am so glad I found you (and others) just, precisely, that way. Be well.
